Maybe just unlucky... May 23, 2009 Edward M. Manns (Pensylvania,U.S.A.) I purchased 5 of these locally last fall and had to return 3 as defective...tempeture off by 4 to 11 degrees or didn't come on within 2 months of operation. I thought I would try this older model and see if they are any better.
Feeling Warm All Over April 4, 2009 Martin Timlin These thermostats are easy to install and program and I highly recommend them.
I love this thermostaat March 20, 2009 C. Alter (California) This thermostat is easy to use. I have another just like it. It was easy to wire in, is easy to program, easy to change the program to Hold. I love waking up to a warm house!
The Lux ELV1 Programmable Thermostats are Great! March 15, 2009 J. C. Johnson (Ohio) I purchased nine Lux ELV1 Programmable Thermostats last September for my 240v radiant ceiling/baseboard heat. My 2000 square foot home was built in the late 1960s and had the original, very inaccurate thermostats. After six months of use, I have to say these thermostats are great! First of all, my electric level billing is now under $150 a month...that includes my electric heat and air conditioning in Ohio! Since my heating is controlled in each room, I can manage the temperature based on my daily needs, hence lower usage. For rooms I plan to be in, I have it set at 72, so I am not freezing myself out. For rooms I need to turn up the heat unexpectedly, I just push the up button...kind of like turning on a space heater. The installation was fairly easy...pretty much like replacing a light switch or outlet. The setup and adjustments are very easy and the recent time change only took a couple of minutes to update all nine units. It did take a few days to get the temperature and time setting right as the radiant heat is slow to respond and the temperature reading is a little different that a forced air heating setting. About the only thing that I do notice about all of these is that it does have a loud click when it turns on and off. It is not loud enough to wake me up but it is noticeable, especially when a couple of them turn on/off a the same time. It was worth the cost to replace nine of my thermostats with these.
Nice, inexpensive unit. March 8, 2009 Judith A. Kling (New York) I purchased this unit for a home office. We turn down our forced air heat during the daytime hours and installed baseboard heat in just this one room. I looked for programmable thermostats, but most were much more expensive than this. This has more set points than I needed, but it works great. We've already seen a savings on our electric after 3/4 of a month in use. It was very easy to install. Another reviewer says that this flashes between the time and the temperature - it does and I suppose if it was placed where it catches your eye, it would be annoying because it does it fairly rapidly. But for the price, this can't be beat.
