Great stat with lots of features! June 15, 2010 M. Hall I installed one of these about 6 months ago, and it's really worked well. I was really impressed with the "cool savings" feature that automatically / slightly bumps up the set point when the a/c unit has been running long cycles - if the a/c has been running for an hour, 1/2 a degree higher temp still feels nice, since the a/c unit has pulled the humidity from the air, so no reason to keep running the unit. The "cool savings" feature is adjustable, so you can control how much it lets the temperature swing. I also really like the outdoor thermostat - it's about a $20 add-on, but it's just nice to know exactly what you're up against when checking the unit. Plus, the blue color is impressive. Shallow, silly, whatever - people notice this thermostat!. Truthfully, if I was selling a house with an old hvac unit, I'd install one of these, because people seem to think the thermostat IS the hvac unit! The only disadvantage is the lack of "off the wall" or usb-type programming. One of the Honeywell units has it, but costs twice as much. Even if I could just pop it off the wall, and sit in my recliner to program it would be a nice feature, but at this price, for as often as the programming really needs to be changed, I'll happily live with it.
One of the best t-stats on the market. May 8, 2010 C. Owens (central florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm an HVAC technician and the company i work for uses these quite often. I have one in my home and love it as it's fully prog. 4 windows, auto changeover and can be configured exactly how you need/want it. Works great for two stage systems with 2c/3h and has a lot of advanced options you wouldn't think a stat would have. This is about as good as it gets from a tstat, only thing that's close in my book is the lennox cs7000 + icomfort stats which are brand new.
Love it, Love it, Love it - wish I could do 4.5 stars though. December 11, 2009 Roger Gray (Madison, AL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like to sleep in the cold, but I want to wake up to a toasty house. I want to never have to switch my thermostat from AC-Heat (which I previously might have to do a couple of times each day in the spring and fall). I don't want to think about the temperature in my house, I just want to be comfortable all of the time... now i can! I love it!!! Pro's 1) Easy to read Display 2) 2 sources of Battery backup 3) Easy to use "temporary" temperature so you can vary from your pre-sets. 4) Adjusts Daylight savings time on it's own (even after Bush changed the dates). 5) Awesome set it and forget it technology. 6) Should save energy during the day if you program it to.. maybe it will pay for itsself one day! CONS: 1) Wiring was convoluded in my opinion, but I had no experience doing this. it didn't clearly point out what wires are "optional or may not be necessary for some units" and I was concerned when only 1/2 the holes had wires in them when I was done(learning curve for me).. but it worked just fine after the first attempt. To be fare, all of the online help that I found failed to point out that only some of the wires were required also. 2) Initial setup is all in code and takes some thought - definetly requeires the manual.
don't buy if you plan on usng a sensor November 23, 2009 J. Rotblat (brooklyn, ny United States) don't buy this thermostat if you plan on using it with a sensor. i bought three of these and none of them worked with a sensor. i even spent about 4 hours on the phone with customer service and even they told me to return it. as a stand alone thermostat though its fine. i had to have sensor capability.
Perfect for Heat Pump! November 7, 2009 P. Dyer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had this programmable thermostat installed - it works great! The programming is easy and allows you to program one day and copy to other days. It makes life wonderful to wake up to the temperature you need to get you out of bed in the morning! If you are wanting a good programmable, easy to read, thermostat - grab this one!
