This thermostat is the best I've seen. We had the factory thermostat installed with our heat pump and it seemed to run the heat and air more than normal plus there was a two degree temperature difference. You had to switch from heat to cool manually too. Since we installed this Honeywell RTH7600B 7 day programable thermostat it has actually reduced our monthly electric bill. We love it, the investment was well worth the change.

After doing a fair amount of research (and fence-sitting) I opted for the Honeywell over the Lux, primarily because the HW was a 2-stage unit and had more settings appropriate to my installation.
My prior thermostat was a "RiteTemp", and was anything but. Originally purchased from Home Depot or Lowe's.. don't remember. But out of the box the temp was way off (>4 degrees max adjustment). But the biggest issue I had with it was it cycled so d*mn much! I swear it would kick on the furnace every couple minutes.
This Honeywell unit has different settings for the type of furnace/heat you have. In my case, I have a high-efficiency unit--so I set it appropriately, and the cycling is much less. I'd say 1/3 as much as the prior stat. Also, it holds the temperature very well, which is good considering the much less cycling. The temperature is accurate too.
One downside with the Honeywell is that it does not have a "special" program; ie: for when you are home during the week or your schedule changes. It has permanent hold--but that defeats the purpose of a programmable stat.
Also, a couple other reviewers commented on the touch screen and that it was difficult to activate. It's actually really straightforward. The first touch to either the bottom or right edge "activates" the panel; ie: enables the touch screen and lights it. The subsequent presses move you through the settings.
All in all I am very satisfied with the Honeywell. The main reason I purchased it was to cut down on the crazy cycling from my previous Rite Temp. It has more than done that--while keeping the air temp more consistent. The only downside, for me, is the lack of an "extra" program--like an "I'm at home today" setting.

Easy to install and easy to program. I made one mistake is wiring which did not give me a program function I was looking for but re-read the instructions (slower this time) and corrected MY mistake easily.

bought this after replacing a lux. The swing on the lux which was normal was killing me. It was never the temp that I wanted. I could tell exactly the temp that It was without looking at it, therefore I was always too hot or cold.To the reviewers that you can't turn on the indigo light to see the temp without changing the setting is "False". Just tap it once and then tap it to change your setting that you want. My house now is a constant 70 degrees. Thanks God

Our old thermostat was having huge temperature swings so I replaced it with this one. Initially I thought there was "something wrong" because it was turning the air conditioner on all the time, but then realized that it was only on for a very short time and was maintaining the temperature within a degree or two. It is very accurate and has been a noticeable energy saver! Programming wasn't difficult either and once it's done, it's done. There is also an easy way to temporarily change the temp for the period you are in and it simply returns to normal when that period is over. The 7-day program is also great because I work Monday thru Friday and am off weekends. The unit is small with a neat apperance, but has an easy-to-read display. Installation is a snap (and I had never installed a thermostat before).
Another note: I noticed the same unit at my dentist's office and he said that every other thermostat they had installed ended up having to be replaced for one reason or another and they also were very satisfied with the performance of this unit.
