I have purchased these thermostats for a cooling aplication in a greenhouse. They perform above my expectations. They keep the tempurature within a very controled range unlike other thermostats that I have used, saving my plants from over heating or over cooling.  Great option for space heaters February 19, 2010
One Sock On
I purchased this item to use with a basement baseboard heater. The unit is easy enough to use, but I'd prefer a backlight on the display to more easily see the temperature setting. All in all, a terrific way to save some energy while keeping a part of your home at a comfortable temperature.
Oh, and the timer isn't a sturdy chrome timer as you might think from the picture. It's the regular Lux plastic timer with a chrome-looking finish.
Just what I needed February 16, 2010

I needed to control the heat in my workshop more accurately than the built-in thermostat on the electric heater. I also wanted the control located elsewhere than on the heater. I added a 120 volt actuated contactor to the heater to switch the high current heater element and then I use this thermostat to switch the contactor on and off. Programming is really easy and can be done without the unit plugged in. I was initially disappointed that the low limit was 45 degrees as I wanted my shop to be around 40 when not in use. However, there is an offset adjustment whch was able to lower the actual temperature by 5 degreees so I can achieve my 40 degrees. It's real simple to crank it up when I go out there to work and in case I should forget to turn it down again, I rely on the program to do so. So my only criticism is that the advertizing does not specify the low limit and neither does the included spec sheet. Another plus is that it can be used to switch for cooling so you could use one to more precisely turn on a fan or even an a/c in a room that gets too warm. The price was good too and I have already paid for it by the electricity saved.

Easy to install.
Works
Great for managing heat / cooling in specific areas of house.
We are using thermostats in our lake home to keep water pipes from freezing.
We set-up small heaters on floor/plug to thermostat/set at 50 degrees.
This helps us to avoid heating whole house in winter.
