Solved my problem July 26, 2010 Michael A. Blue (Tucson, AZ USA) I needed to replace an old Honeywell mercury type thermostat on my heat pump, and Honeywell no longer makes one like the old one. I looked at many different brands and models, and this one appeared to do everything I needed, plus the price was right. I found the instructions easy to follow and had the old one out and the new one installed in less than 15 minutes. If you want to change the default program the instructions are easy to follow, but I didn't bother because the default setting work fine for me. I liked it so well I ordered another one to replace the thermostat at the other end of my house. It is important to label the wires as you take them off the old thermostat, and they provide stickers that make this easy to do. Anybody that can read and follow simple directions should have no problem installing and programming this thermostat.
Great Produce July 18, 2010 Lakeman (Georgia) This product is exactly what I needed. It can be calibrated and the 'swing' can also be adjusted. Time will tell on reliability, but at this time I am extremely pleased. Shipping was a little slow.
De-Lux Product July 10, 2010 MzMack (Clinton, MD) This product was easy to install and program. There are only two buttons to set the time, and you have to be sure you are on AM or PM, or your programming will be off.
Lux is what Honeywell isn't May 22, 2010 Glows by night (Too near 2 Palo Verde) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've installed five Lux thermostats and three Honeywells. Every Lux installed without a hitch and the oldest (11+ years) still works flawlessly. Nice: you can remove from wall and program sitting down. I've installed three Honeywells and moved into one house that already had the $200+ 'Honeywell Best' installed. Pure junk. The only Honeywell thermostat I'd ever trust is the old-fashioned round manual one (2 speeds: ON or OFF). The programmable ones have the most arcane programming imaginable. (An aside: when the big H moved into its new office building -Phoenix, AZ- it took them two years to sort out the HVAC ... while my girlfriend and the other employees alternately roasted or froze. 'nuff said.) You can buy either one first ... but, either way, your 2nd one will be a Lux.
Nice! March 24, 2010 C. williams (AZ, United States) Easy to follow instructions. You need to make sure to label your old wires before removing them from the old thermostat. After this connect everything to the correct terminals. Make sure power to the heat pump is off. After wiring everything up and turning the power back on our heat pump fired right up no problems. Time and temperature settings are very easy to work with. I have one gripe about the product. It seems to make a ringing noise when the back light is on. It hasn't affected the functionality of the unit at all it is just odd. For this reason no stars taken off, does what it needs to do and looks a ton better than the almost 30 year old thermostat that was up.
